Player of the Month - February 2011: Rex James

Session 11: Mon. 28/02/2011 - February 'Player of the Month'.
Rex James, well clear of the field on 94 points, formally wrapped up the February 'Player of the Month' title, making it two from two this year. Herbert Gauntlett on 69.5 who battled with James for much of the month but did not cope with the finishing sprint, took second. Audley Astwood with 67 points, although not featuring for most of the month, snatched third.

Session 10: Sat. 26/02/2011 - February 'Player of the Month'.
A second consecutive first place finish, this time a tie, enabled Rex James to remain at the top of the standings on 86 points for the 'Player of the Month'. Barring a 16 pair turnout for Monday's final session for this month, this wraps up the title for him as he is eighteen and a half points clear of second placed Herbert Gauntlett (67.5) who also featured in the first place tie, while Peter Mais (63) is now in third.

Session 9: Wed. 23/02/2011 - February 'Player of the Month'.
Rex James' first place finish in this second session of the Kurt Reisinger ensures that he, now on 77 points, continues to lead the 'Player of the Month' standings. The former second placed Herbert Gauntlett who did not play this event has now been been pushed out of the top three by Peter Mais on 63 points and Judy Ziadie on 59.5 points.

Rex James marginally increases his tally to 62 points as he leads the 'Player of the Month' standings from Herbert Gauntlett on 58.5 points while Peter Mais on 52 slips into third spot.

Session 7: Sat. 19/02/2011 - February 'Player of the Month'.
Rex James on 61 points and Herbert Gauntlett on 58.5 continue to jostle for the top spot, well clear of their opposition, for the 'Player of the Month'. Judy Ziadie on 43.5 points moves into third place.

Session 6: Wed. 16/02/2011 - February 'Player of the Month'.
The ding-dong battle between Rex James (54.5 points) and Herbert Gauntlett (53.5)continues as he retakes the lead for the 'Player of the Month' while Peter Mais (41) currently holds down third place.

Session 5: Mon. 14/02/2011 - February 'Player of the Month'.
A Herbert Gauntlett win rockets him back into the lead for the 'Player of the Month' with 49.5 points. Rex James' is pushed to second on 43.5 while Michael Coore ties with Audley Astwood for third with each of those two having amassed 32 points.

Rex James' win shoots him back into the lead for the 'Player of the Month' with 38 points. Herbert Gauntlett drops back to second with 36.5 points and Walter Brown moves into the limelight with 31 points.

Session 3: Wed. 09/02/2011 - February 'Player of the Month'.
A win by Herbert Gauntlett takes him to 32.5 points and the lead for the 'Player of the Month'. Second are two partners, Peter Mais and Michael Coore on 28.

Session 2: Mon. 07/02/2011 - February 'Player of the Month'.
A shared win and his tenth consecutive top three finish for the year puts Rex James (25 points) in the lead for the 'Player of the Month'. Second is Herbert Gauntlett - 17.5 and third is shared by Peter Mais and Michael Coore on 17.

Session 1: Sat. 05/02/2011 - February 'Player of the Month'.
Dhiru Tanner returned ater a few years absence to partner Victor Ziadie, himself not a regular player, to a win and the lead in the player of the month with 13 points. Third is shared by four players, Charles Williams, Herbert Gauntlett, Rex James and Trevor Jones on 10 points each.

N.B. - In the Jamaica Bridge Blog's 'Player of the Month' ranking, players are awarded points for each game (session) played inclusive of the audited results of 'Last Saturday' games. Each player of the winning pair gets points equal to the number of pairs entered and each following pair gets 1 point less. E.g., if 7 pairs play, pair 1 gets 7 points (each player), pair 2 gets 6, pair 3 gets 5, ..... pair 7 gets 1. Additionally, 3 bonus points are awarded to the winner of each session, 2 to second place and 1 to third. (In the case of a tie the points for the spots are totalled and then divided between the tied players.)

In two session championships, full points will be awarded for each session. There will be no additional points awarded to the overall winners of these 2-session championships.

There will be no points awarded for team matches. There will probably be no award for December (to be decided). The above table of the points earned to date will be updated after each eligible bridge session.
