Rex James, well clear of the field on 94 points, formally wrapped up the February 'Player of the Month' title, making it two from two this year. Herbert Gauntlett on 69.5 who battled with James for much of the month but did not cope with the finishing sprint, took second. Audley Astwood with 67 points, although not featuring for most of the month, snatched third.

A second consecutive first place finish, this time a tie, enabled Rex James to remain at the top of the standings on 86 points for the 'Player of the Month'. Barring a 16 pair turnout for Monday's final session for this month, this wraps up the title for him as he is eighteen and a half points clear of second placed Herbert Gauntlett (67.5) who also featured in the first place tie, while Peter Mais (63) is now in third.

Session 9: Wed. 23/02/2011 - February 'Player of the Month'.
Rex James' first place finish in this second session of the Kurt Reisinger ensures that he, now on 77 points, continues to lead the 'Player of the Month' standings. The former second placed Herbert Gauntlett who did not play this event has now been been pushed out of the top three by Peter Mais on 63 points and Judy Ziadie on 59.5 points.

Dhiru Tanner returned ater a few years absence to partner Victor Ziadie, himself not a regular player, to a win and the lead in the player of the month with 13 points. Third is shared by four players, Charles Williams, Herbert Gauntlett, Rex James and Trevor Jones on 10 points each.

N.B. - In the Jamaica Bridge Blog's 'Player of the Month' ranking, players are awarded points for each game (session) played inclusive of the audited results of 'Last Saturday' games. Each player of the winning pair gets points equal to the number of pairs entered and each following pair gets 1 point less. E.g., if 7 pairs play, pair 1 gets 7 points (each player), pair 2 gets 6, pair 3 gets 5, ..... pair 7 gets 1. Additionally, 3 bonus points are awarded to the winner of each session, 2 to second place and 1 to third. (In the case of a tie the points for the spots are totalled and then divided between the tied players.)
In two session championships, full points will be awarded for each session. There will be no additional points awarded to the overall winners of these 2-session championships.
There will be no points awarded for team matches. There will probably be no award for December (to be decided). The above table of the points earned to date will be updated after each eligible bridge session.

Betty Williams & Peter Mais were models of consistency, finishing third in both the Monday and Wednesday sessions to come out overall winners in the Kurt Reisinger mixed pairs event held at the Police Officers Club on Hope Road over the two evenings. The second placed Ulla Dahl - Audley Astwood pair who were second on day one, could only manage to get to sixth place on day two while Rosie Mahfood & Karl Lee - fifth on day one and fourth on day two - were third overall. The fairly good turnout of twelve pairs all put in competitive performances although as is usual there were occasional quirky results on some boards. The first three finishers were the only pairs to finish in the top half of the frame on both days.

Betty Williams & Peter Mais were models of consistency, finishing third in both the Monday and Wednesday sessions to come out overall winners in the Kurt Reisinger mixed pairs event held at the Police Officers Club on Hope Road over the two evenings. The second placed Ulla Dahl - Audley Astwood pair who were second on day one, could only manage to get to sixth place on day two while Rosie Mahfood & Karl Lee - fifth on day one and fourth on day two - were third overall. The fairly good turnout of twelve pairs all put in competitive performances although as is usual there were occasional quirky results on some boards. The first three finishers were the only pairs to finish in the top half of the frame on both days.

The predominance of male-female combinations was due to players becoming familiar with each others games in preparation for next week's Karl Reisinger mixed pairs competition.
