NCB/Horace Payne - Monday Eve Session - May 30, 2011

Richard Phillips & Carol Coore turned up at the club without partners on the day and were asked to play together. They did so and left the rest of the field in their dust. Herbert Gauntlett & Calvin Wong took second while Karl Lee & Wayne Chai Chong were third. The top two were over 60%.

CCACBF Zonal Championships - Cuba - May 20-28, 2011
In the third place match with Bermuda, Jamaica's ladies started at -14 due to the carryover. They won the first session 64-21 and the 2nd 59-31 for a final score of +57 and the bronze medal.

The men did not make the medal round of the Open Teams but took the silver in the Swiss Team event. Congratulations to all the players who represented us: Rex James, Trevor Jones, Peter Mais, Michael Coore, Walter Brown, Michael Marshall, Betty Williams, Carol Coore, Marlene Fulford, Monica Cools-Lartigue, Valerie Marshall, Shirley Tavares and the non-playing Felix Moore.

A special thanks also to the coaches and others who helped prepare the team for the Cuba trip.

Two pairs, Ripton Savin - Michael Chuck and Joyce Currie - Richard Phillips tied for last night's top spot, each with a 62.5% game. Third was Lynette James & Carmen Levy. The small field was due to six pairs being in Cuba representating Jamaica at the CAC Bridge Championships.
